The Heritage Village puts on a spooky Haunted Village during October! The old timey houses will be decked out in Halloween decorations, there will be fortune tellers and spider caves, and there is a Haunted Trail through the woods that patrons traverse for some light scares! Come help volunteer and do some scaring! Volunteer jobs may include working as a scare actor on the Haunted Trail, passing out candy, walking the town streets as a scare actor, or helping out in the various themed haunted houses. This event will have you working mostly outside so dress for the weather, bring layers!
Dinner: Volunteers are provided with dinner before the event begins for the public at 6:00pm. Dinner will be sandwiches, drinks, and chips which can be picked up at the food tent.
Parking: Volunteers are instructed to enter the village and park in a large field near the entrance on the right-hand side. There should be people directing cars, but mainly just look for a field full of parked cars!
Sign-in: Sign-in table is located outside Hayner House, which is the big white house. Let them know you are here with APhiO and you will be given name tags.
**Costumes**: Costumes are HIGHLY encouraged!! This event is geared towards small children so don't wear anything too scary! Wearing all black with a fun halloween hat for example is fine. If you do not have a costume to wear, try to wear all black or a Halloween themed shirt.
**Scaring**: Again, this event is geared towards small children!! Any scaring done on the Haunted Trail must be LIGHT scaring. Examples of this include: stepping out from behind a tree, freezing in position until a person gets close and then moving, walking down the trail, and following people from a distance. The goal is for each kid to have fun, not to be terrified, so please be respectful. There is no touching anyone, except for if a kid asks for a fist bump, then that is ok. The director of the trail has told children in the past to yell out if they really wanted to be scared while on the trail.
Vendors: There will be more food and drink stands running for the event that you can buy from if you get hungry! I recommend bringing a water bottle to have with you for the night.
This event should be super fun and this is a great new relationship we are fostering with Heritage Village! Please be very respectful and follow all rules while volunteering at this event!
