Co-hosted by Girl Up, Her Campus, Women in Business, Planned Parenthood Generation Action, United Asian Coalition, New Hampshire Youth Movement, and Reading the Rainbow. Learn more here. Volunteers may be assigned to any of our stations or other activities. If you’re stationed at #1, sex education with Health and Wellness, you’ll be asked to facilitate the period cramp simulators (with proper instruction from WIA members). At station #2, you’ll be asked to guide attendees to writing supportive and affirmational statements and hand out educational materials from SHARPP. At station #3, you’ll be asked to inform attendees about our talking points for the “Walk a Mile in Their Shoes” activity and clean shoes between each user. At station #4, you’ll be asked to deliver our talking points and facilitate the “self-defense boxing,” which includes holding keys between your fingers and punching a punching bag. You will not be teaching a self-defense class, as this is more of an exercise in what not to do. At station #5, you’ll be watching the art pieces and handing out materials for interactive exhibits. You may be asked to hand out giveaway passports at the entrance, collect passports at the giveaway table, or hand out goodie bags. In terms of our other activities, you may be asked to watch and facilitate our tie-dye or poster-making station. At all numbered stations, volunteers will be asked to stamp passports, which will prove attendees’ participation for eligibility in the giveaways. Talking points and activity walk-throughs will be provided closer to the date or day of. If you feel uncomfortable working at a particular station, please email Clarissa Gowing at clarissa.gowing@unh.edu to specify this preference, and we will accommodate you.
