GRC Moderators |
| Date: Apr 12, 2016 at 12:00pm to 4:00pm | |
Come help moderate the GRC by timing presentations. Please arrive 10 minutes before the start of your shift to become acquainted with the rooms and receive instruction.
1) There will be a moderator packet inside each room. Please leave the packet in the room for the next moderator.
2) Your task is to keep presentations on time. There are cue cards that read: 5 minutes, 2 minutes, and time’s up that you will hold up to alert the speaker how much time they have left.
3) Each speaker has 12 minutes to present and 3 minutes for Questions from the general audience. Most sessions command about 15-30 audience members. The speakers know in advance how much time they have, so do not feel as though you are rushing them, they should be prepared to talk for the allotted time.
4) At the start of the session briefly introduce yourself as the moderator and then introduce the first speaker on the list. From this point forward there should be a steady flow in presentations.
5) If a speaker ends early, then move on to the next speaker. The hour is jam packed so it is critical that you keep the session moving.
6) If there are any problems please come to the lobby and ask the staff for help (I will be out there, along with others from the Graduate School office).
