Difficult Conversations Workshop

Date: Sep 8, 2018 at 1:00pm to 5:00pm
This 4-hour workshop (1:00-5:00pm) will focus on the core skills of empathy: What is it, and how do we give empathy in different contexts to communicate and live more effectively? You will engage in exercises to deepen, broaden and focus your empathic skills as well as learn a map for navigating difficult conversations. Meaningful connection requires skillful empathy and self-awareness. These skills can enhance effectiveness in personal relationships, couples relationships, business meetings, as well as high-conflict negotiations. This workshop is based on the principles of nonviolent communication (NVC) developed by Marshall Rosenberg and inspired by the principles of non-violence espoused by Martin Luther King, Jr. and Mahatma Gandhi. All are welcome who are interested in being empowered to live with deeper empathy and human connection. The workshop will take place on Saturday, September 8, in the Evans-Lively room in Carnegie, 1:00-5:00pm. To reserve your spot in this workshop, please RSVP to jami.powell@centre.edu. For any questions about this training or NVC in general, feel free to contact Jami Powell or Joel Klepac (joel.klepac@centre.edu).
