Here's a project for you guys who live north or are only available in the evenings:
"At Disney Magnet School, the librarians teach classes throughout the day, leaving little time for reshelving books and organizing the library. Volunteers help with those tasks and others to make the library accessible for all students."
Easy, y/y? Sign up today! (I gotta have names to the coordinator by Monday morning.)
It'll take a little less than an hour on the El, or if anyone can drive, that would be *awesome*. If we take CTA, we'll meet at 5pm in the Atrium... bring your UPass!
IMPORTANT: To do this project, you MUST complete the Chicago Cares online orientation: http://www.chicagocares.org/IndVol_Today.asp It literally takes less than 5 minutes to do, and you'll be set for ANY other Chicago Cares project you might want to do (or host!)
From the coordinator:
"This is a confirmation that you are signed up to volunteer Tuesday, Nov 9, 6-8 pm. We will be meeting at Disney Magnet School, 4140 North Marine Drive. We will either be in the lobby or up in the library. The receptionist can give you directions to the library when you arrive if necessary. We may be doing some cleaning and reorganizing, so please wear comfortable clothes and shoes that can get dirty. We will be helping with various tasks in the library including reorganizing, labeling, repairing, and shelving books, reorganizing library set up, and other necessary projects." | |
