Date: Apr 7, 2010 at 8:00pm to Apr 16, 2010 at 8:00pm
Hi guys! I announced this service project at last week's active meeting, so just in case you weren't there or you forgot, I'll be collecting money for a non-profit organization called Institute of Women Today (IWT) on behalf of UIC's College of Nursing and Student Nurses Association (SNA). They will be hosting a benefit dinner for the IWT on April 17th so hopefully I can get any donations to them before or on that date. I'll be collecting donations at this week's (April 7th) and next week's active meeting (April 14th), so if you want to donate please sign up online! It will be: - 1 hr for $3 - 2 hrs for $6 - 3 hrs (max) for $9 Even though the maximum is 3 hours, you're free to donate more! Spare change and such are welcomed! =) Here's a description of the organization: The Institute of Women Today is a non-profit organization serving the Chicago community since 1974. Our mission is twofold: to provide interim housing for homeless women and their children and to provide experiences that empower, mentor, and support women so they can achieve their highest potential. IWT operates Maria Shelter, a 50-bed interim shelter for homeless women and their children, and the Vincennes Senior Center, which offers senior citizens a place to socialize, enjoy a nutritious meal, and learn new skills. Both facilities are located in the Englewood community of Chicago, one of the most economically deprived areas of Chicago. Here's my number just in case you want to contact me: (773) 414-1966 Thanks, you guys!
