Relay for Life

Date: Apr 16, 2010 at 7:00pm to Apr 17, 2010 at 8:00pm
The Relay for Life is an overnight event that raises money for the American Cancer Society...It's an awesome cause, and a lot of fun. UIC's Relay was canceled due to the crap economy, so we're invading Loyola! Can our team raise more money than Pi Eta? (yesyesyes) From the RFL website: "The American Cancer Society Relay For Life is a life-changing event that gives everyone in communities across the globe a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease. At Relay, teams of people camp out at a local high school, park, or fairground and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event. Because cancer never sleeps, Relays are overnight events. The only requirement to participate in Relay For Life is the $5 registration/commitment fee (per person) that is due upon registration. After that, anything you can raise through individual, team, or online fundraising is graciously accepted. It is recommended that each participant to set a personal goal to raise $100. If you raise more, that's even better. Even if you do not raise $100, you are still welcome to participate." If you'd like to be on the team, go join! We can have up to 15 members...if there are more than 15 interested brothers, we can start ANOTHER team! If you think you can raise $100 before April 16 and you want to come to this event, go sign up at the link below. Or if you can't be on the team, go donate a buck or three! Sign up here: http://main.acsevents.org/goto/aposigmasigma I'd like to get started on fundraising early, and you can join the team online and get started any time. I'm hoping we can maybe plan a team fundraiser to help get us started. Of course, you can ask for donations from anyone (and everyone!) you know; $5 from 20 people gets you to $100 pretty quick--and earns you a free tshirt! When you sign up for the team, you can create your own fundraising page, and people can send you donations online...it's ridiculously easy. Of course, if you have any questions, call/text/email me. 217.649.5125 iLFS, Beth PS--here's how you'll earn hours for this event: 2 hours for raising the first $100 1 hour for every $100 after that 1 hour for every hour you're walking for our team at the Relay on April 16th.
