Join Chicago Cares and Vital Bridges Food Pantry for an engaging volunteer opportunity to build connections with and support community members living on the West Side of Chicago. By participating, volunteers will build empathy and awareness around the opportunities and challenges West Side communities face in accessing food and other essential items. Volunteers will increase Vital Bridges’ capacity to make an impact on food insecurity in HIV/AIDS affected communities. Tasks may include taking grocery orders, retrieving requested items, stocking shelves, and distributing groceries. Volunteers are encouraged to dress comfortably and are required to wear closed-toed shoes and shirts with sleeves due to health code regulations. Water will be provided on site, but we encourage the use of re-usable water bottles. There is free street parking directly outside the Vital Bridges Food Pantry, and additional free parking on the residential streets surrounding the facility.
