Date: Dec 7, 2023 at 4:00pm to 5:00pm
In order to participate in this amazing weekly opportunity, you must be signed up with St. Louis Arc. If you are interested, let Nora know and she will help you get signed up so that you can start right away! The mission of the St. Louis Arc is to empower people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families to lead better lives by providing a lifetime of high-quality services, family support, and advocacy. The St. Louis Self-Advocates are St. Louis area youth seeking to empower each other, increase awareness about disability-related issues, and improve our community. Our members are St. Louis area residents between the ages of 14 and 29 with diagnosed disabilities. the committees reflect the group's goals and vision, including advocacy, quality, morale, and marketing. Volunteers assist in the following ways: Assist the advocates in developing and implementing projects, write proposals and prepare committee reports, help officers in creating presentations and discussing ideas for how to grow as leaders, and provide individual support for members during meetings, such as monitoring the chat, supporting them in asking questions that come up, and helping to share feedback for them as leaders, lead in team building activities and games and assist at in-person social events. Please note that your behavior will reflect back with APO, so please conduct yourselves professionally. Now that Walking Club is done for the season, I will be attending these sessions. This is a year-round opportunity.
