Career Pathways into the App Economy Dr. Andrew Currah, Education Development Executive, Apple This session will begin with an overview of Everyone Can Code, an initiative created by Apple to demystify coding and app development. The discussion will then provide a framework for understanding the technical building blocks of the app economy and the emerging skill sets that companies need to advance these areas of innovation. Presentation is followed by open discussion Speaker bio: Dr. Andrew Currah is an Education Development Executive with Apple Inc. Based in San Diego, he consults with higher education institutions across the US and internationally, with a focus on the intersection of business education with the app economy. Prior to joining Apple, Andrew served as faculty in the Center for the Environment, University of Oxford, with dual appointments in the Oxford Internet Institute and the Oxford Reuters Institute of Journalism. His research focused on the economic geography of digital innovation in a range of industries, including retail, publishing, journalism and Hollywood. In parallel with his academic work, Andrew also worked as a digital strategy consultant (with clients including the BBC, HM Government and Oxford Analytica) and as a project manager focused on mobile app development (at the Bodleian Library, Oxford, and later, at a family-owned design studio).
