We need many volunteers to help set up and staff the Friends Big Book Sale this month! While the town of Chapel Hill and the public library no longer have a mask mandate, we continue to recommend that all volunteers be vaccinated and please consider wearing a mask. We want to protect all, especially any unvaccinated children attending the sale. Pre-sale setup tasks include moving boxes of books and arranging books on tables. We will also be packing up books at the end of the sale. Activities on both days range from moderate (bending, stretching, lifting) to more demanding (moving boxes of books). Volunteers are needed during the sale to monitor rooms (keeping books straightened and answering questions), to assist customers with special needs, and to count books at checkout. A limited number of experienced volunteers are also needed to staff membership check-in and cashier stations. We will have snacks available for volunteers but ask that you bring your own water bottle to support the library's efforts to be environmentally responsible. Help make this a zero waste event.
