Volunteers will be required to attend one 1.5 hour training session prior to the event. The training sessions will be held at the Morehead Planetarium at 5:30pm on Thursday, April 3 and 5pm on Monday, April 7. Additional training sessions can be held at the convenience of large groups that will be volunteering together as a group activity. On Saturday, April 12, 2014 from 10am-3pm, the UNC campus will hold its largest science outreach event of the year – the UNC Science Expo! Coordinated by UNC’s Morehead Planetarium and Science Center, the Expo will engage the public in science, math, technology and engineering through hands-on activities, talks, lab tours, stage performances and more. All events are free and open to the public. Last year, over 10,000 people attended this fun-filled day. We expect even more this time! We will also be encouraging everyone to stay for the Carolina Spring Football Game at 3pm at Kenan Stadium. WHAT YOU'LL DO: Post signage and balloons; set up near Cameron Ave.; assist vendors in parking and transporting their materials to their assigned locations; distribute trash cans and recycling bins; check restrooms; other duties as needed.
