A workshop for undergraduate and graduate students with Micah Hysong, a PhD Candidate in the Department of Genetics at UNC Chapel Hill. In this workshop, we will explore how misapplications of scientific and medical research have contributed to health disparities. By examining the broader societal context in which science operates, the workshop encourages participants to critically evaluate research findings and consider the influence of social structures on scientific inquiry. Through discussions and case studies, attendees will develop a more nuanced approach to interpreting data, ensuring that research accurately reflects human populations and avoids reinforcing outdated or misleading narratives.
