National Service Week: Self and Community Care

Date: Nov 1, 2022 at 12:00pm to Nov 12, 2022 at 12:00pm
The 2022-24 National Service Week Theme is Self & Community Care! Chapters are asked to unite under this theme as they seek ways to improve their communities through service. According to the National Institute for Mental Health, self-care means taking the time to do things that help you live well and improve both your physical health and mental health. When it comes to your mental health, self-care can help you manage stress, lower your risk of illness, and increase your energy. Even small acts of self-care in your daily life can have a big impact. Click here for more information on self-care from NIMH. Self & Community Care takes the concept of self-care and extends it to members of the surrounding communities. What can your chapter do to help fraternity, campus and community members live well and improve their physical and mental health? In short these two weeks do something for yourself that you consider self care to ease stress from yourself and other. It can be anything from a study group to a movie night with friends, journaling or donating blood. Make sure to send me a picture of the activity you are doing. To encourage brothers to think of themselves and others. The hours will work like this. If the activity helps community: study group night, movie night, hanging out with brother, gaming session. -2 activities= 1 hour If activity helps yourself: journaling, painting, gym time, single player gaming, napping -2 activities= 1 hour We have to take care of ourselves to make sure our fraternity is strong. Also, all pictures shared will got to monthly ozzie and those are 10pictures/videos= 1 hour of service to chapter.
