Housing & Residence Life is gearing up for Move-in and needs your help! Please see the details below for more information on how to sign up, roles and expectations & how your organization can earn up to $500! Details: Move-in dates: Volunteer hours for each day are 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., split into 4-hour shifts. August 17-18, 2023 – South Village August 19, 2023 – Apartment Residents Day-of perks: Volunteers will receive a black bucket hat (only one per volunteer) and lunch each day they volunteer. We encourage you to wear your organization’s T-shirts! Compensation: As a thank you for volunteering, your organization can earn up to $500. The baseline would be $200 for up to 5 people and an additional $100 for each addition of 5 people, with a minimum of two 4-hour shifts to receive this compensation. These shifts do not need to be consecutive. Please note, this is for each organization, and not per day. Every volunteer that signs up is required to be there for their allotted time slots in order to receive the compensation. We may make exceptions for special circumstances if a student isn’t able to show up. Training: Training will occur Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at 6 p.m. in South Village. This will include food and a walk-through of what to expect on Move-in day. Task Descriptions: Please note, there will be a lead for each activity. Vehicle Unloading Assistance – Assist residents in unloading their vehicles and placing items into carts. This includes boxes, bags, and any other items residents have. Cart Unloading Assistance – This consists of assisting residents unload their carts. You will be in the lobby of South Village and walk residents up to their rooms with the cart and help them unload their items into their room. You will then return the cart back to the station. Directions – Stand at main intersections and assist residents and parents who need help with getting to the correct location. Directing Traffic – Directing cars driving through housing, outside Structure E and along the street, to the correct destination. Place me where needed – Let us know what you can help with and be open to jumping in where needed! Students have an opportunity to fill out their top 2 preferred tasks, but please note that they may not get assigned their preference, it’s all first-come, first-served and based on what is needed. We have a max number of volunteers we can accept each day. Each volunteer must fill out this form to sign up and complete this waiver by August 11th for consideration.
