Have you ever had the urge to make a difference in our environment but not sure how? If so, then come join us and build your very own vermicompost bin! Californians throw away more than 5 million tons of food waste each year! In fact, over 30% of California’s waste stream consists of compostable organic materials such as wood scraps, yard waste, and food waste. Why: The purpose of this project is to build an awareness of our own contribution to waste and to reduce it as much as possible through vermicomposting; using worms to process organic food waste into nutriet-rich soil. Worms eat decaying food and produce a very effective soil amendement. Not only is having pet worms fun, but it's also very easy to maintain. Let's sustain our planet for the future generations to come. GUEST SPEAKER: Beverly Jones will be presenting at 11:00AM When: 12/02/17 Saturday Where: Almansor Park, Alhambra CA How: You will be drilling holes for aeration, decorating your bin, and adding bedding into your bin for the worms. Price: $15 - Includes the materials to build & decorate your worm bin, the bin itself, and supplies for the event Please sign up to volunteer or to participate by clicking on the link. Thanks!
