Get Active: Basketball Sessions w/ Special-Needs Youth

Date: Nov 5, 2017 at 1:00pm to 4:15pm
Play Basketball and help coach special needs youth in building their basketball skills. KEEN (Kids Enjoy Exercise Now) is a nonprofit organization that provides one-to-one recreational opportunities for children and young adults with mental and physical disabilities. KEEN L.A.’s mission is to foster the self-esteem, confidence, skills and talents of its athletes through non-competitive activities. L.A. Works volunteers get matched one-to-one with KEEN athletes for a group warm up, 1:1 coaching on passing, dribbling and shooting drills and lots of fun! The session ends with each athlete showcasing what they learned that day along with our usual "Prouds" circle. KEEN programs are tailored to each athlete's needs and designed to promote the athlete's sense of accomplishment. Bring some encouragement and positivity to these youth and show them a fun time! Special Note: Volunteer coaches do not need any prior experience with basketball or working with disabled individuals, but having a patient, spirited and kind-hearted presence is required.
