Date: Mar 20, 2024 at 1:30pm to 4:00pm
Service Area: Other - Harm Reduction Health care for the Homeless needs assistance supporting their harm reduction program. Volunteers will be doing one or more of the below tasks. 1. Safe syringe Syringe Service Programs (SSP) are community-based prevention programs that provide a range of services, including access to and disposal of sterile syringes and injection equipment, safer drug use supplies, education, vaccination, testing, and linkage to wound care, infectious disease care, and substance use treatment. The program has taken off and they have numerous ways in which patients can access this service! Because the demand is so high, they value volunteer help with: - Putting life-saving kits together - Filling out ID cards - Organizing supplies - Reaching out to patients to get their feedback/suggestions on what would make the kits better 2. Welcome Packets HCH’s Medication for Opioid Use Disorder Program has daily walk-in hours and is specifically designed to provide additional support for people who are using drugs. HCH is putting together Welcome Packets for the program and would value volunteer help to have as many packets ready and available to give to patients. 3.
