Cooking for Love (Serving Shift)

Date: Mar 29, 2019 at 4:00pm to 6:00pm
Address: 17 W Franklin St, Baltimore, MD 21201 Community Partner: My Sister’s Place Service Area: Food Insecurity Systemic Issue Addressed: Lack of resources and support for homeless women and their children, including women who are survivors of domestic abuse. By providing these women and children with meals, we give them one less thing to worry about during the hardest time in their lives while bridging the gap between the food they can access and the nutrition they need. There are two volunteer shifts, the first being the cooking shift at the Interfaith Center, and the second being the serving shift at My Sister's place. Action Tasks: First, transport food to My Sister's Place from cooking shift. Then, split into groups tasked with a specific portion of service. Your tasks may include: preparing for food service (scoop food from tray, plate desserts, count how many plates were served), serving food during dinner service, cleaning (wash dishes, wipe tablecloths, reset tables, clean utensils), and interacting with women and children who are eating. Departure Info: Time: 4:00 PM Place: Interfaith Center (IFC) Mode of Transport: At location Return Info: Time: 6:00 PM Place: My Sister's Place Mode of Transport: Walk
