Amnesty Decoders: https://decoders.amnesty.org/ A network of digital volunteers helping research and expose human rights violations. Citizen Science: https://www.citizenscience.gov/catalog/# Through citizen science and crowdsourcing, the federal government and nongovernmental organizations can engage the American public in addressing societal needs and accelerating science, technology, and innovation. In citizen science, the public participates voluntarily in the scientific process, addressing real-world problems in ways that may include formulating research questions, conducting scientific experiments, collecting and analyzing data, interpreting results, making new discoveries, developing technologies and applications, and solving complex problems. In crowdsourcing, organizations submit an open call for voluntary assistance from a large group of individuals for online, distributed problem-solving. Missing Maps: https://www.missingmaps.org/ Volunteers are asked to map some of the most vulnerable areas on Earth, so that crisis teams can respond whenever there is a natural or humanitarian disaster more efficiently. Helping this organization and its partners (which includes the Red Cross and Médecins Sans Frontières) is as simple as looking at satellite images on your computer and then adding buildings and roads to maps.
