Denton's Day of the Dead Festival

Date: Oct 26, 2019 at 11:00am to 9:00pm
This is going to be such a dope event, y'all. Update: "volunteers should report to the community altar, which will be located at Industrial and E. Hickory streets - just over from the coffin race finish line. When they report to us, we will take them to the volunteer tent to get their T-shirts. Then we'll bring them back so they can start helping people write names on the butterfly wings and attach them to the altar. At 7 p.m. tomorrow, the parade will be starting and we will be on the move. However, those volunteers coming from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. can assist people at the photo booth (it's a big frame of giant marigolds and butterflies, plus a mask and a flower crown that people can put on if they want) by taking photos for folks. The frame will be at Industrial and E. Hickory streets. They will also take parade puppets from puppeteers as they complete the route and stay with them where the frame is. Then, they'll help us clean off the altar." Check this facebook link to see all the photos and videos of what the events going to look like and how we are going to participate! "We need young, strong people for parade puppets, banners and to help us staff the community altar. We have a large Quetzalcoatl puppet that required eight puppeteers. If you have folks who would be interested, they would get a free festival T-shirt, free beer** and snacks (if they are of age on the beer) in our volunteer tent. I am attaching images of the puppets and banners. I will share a video of the body of the Aztec dragon, Quetzalcoatl. Once you get people gathered, please let me know and we will set up an orientation meeting and training for puppets." **Check the bylaws and be sure you are following all chapter, state, and federal laws to be compliant! No drinking in letters, no drinking with pledges, and pledges you are not allowed to drink at events even if you are above 21.** Please put your shirt name in your comments.
