Hey guys! Tonight at 6:30, UNT's percussion department is hosting their bi-annual Global Rhythms Concert. I am performing traditional and contemporary Balinese music with the UNT Gamelan Bwana Kumala ensemble. This is the last time I'll perform music during my undergraduate career, so I'd love to see my brothers in the audience! Some fun info... Gamelan music holds deep cultural roots in the Indonesian islands of Bali and Java. UNT students are very lucky to have access to this ensemble, as there are a very limited amount of gamelan instruments in the United States. To get an idea of what gamelan sounds like, here's a clip from our ensemble's spring 2016 performance: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g4WFvzI1J7U Yes, I will be in the traditional Balinese clothing! Come support your president and the students who put such hard work into UNT's cultural ensembles! Meet me after the performance in the lobby for pictures :)
