[professional LSA] Perseverance and Grit as Successful Career Drivers

Date: Sep 22, 2022 at 1:30pm to 2:30pm
LSA alum Michael Anzola (Political Science and Government ‘08) is no stranger to persevering through the opportunities and barriers of the working world, but he claims that “grit” is the key to becoming successful. Born to immigrant parents, Michael chose his LSA degree because it sparked intellectual curiosity. After graduating into one of the worst recessions in U.S. history, Michael successfully climbed his way up the ladder of multiple companies including U.S. Bank, emBorrow, and KMD Partners, and is now coming back to share strategies with LSA students around navigating the workforce. Michael was selected by U.S. Bank as one of thirty top performing employees company wide to participate in the Leadership Development program. He led the launch of emBorrow, a startup focused on helping women and couples with their fertility financing needs which was featured as one of “50 startups to watch in 2020” by Built In, and he is now Chief Information Officer at KMD Partners. The tie between his successes? Michael says it is “tenacity and grit.” Join Michael to talk about how to leverage your LSA experiences for success beyond University of Michigan.
