Volunteer with Washtenaw Refugee! This is a great opportunity to get involved in the community. Below is a description of the volunteer opportunity: Conversation Partner: Many of our adult refugees have been telling us how much their English proficiency has regressed during the pandemic. Without our in-person ESL classes, social events, or other opportunities for interaction, many haven't had the opportunity to practice. If you would be willing to act as a conversation partner by phone, facetime or zoom, we will connect you to a language partner and give you some tips on conversation topics and things to help adults to practice their english. If you are interested in this event, contact Maryam @ mtout@umich.edu and she will be able to set you up with the necessary information to participate. Once you have contacted her and completed a volunteering session, send a screen shot of the emails between you and Maryam for confirmation of the completion of the event.
