What is plant propagation, you ask?
It's basically a way to get new plants for free! Plant propagation is any method of creating new plants, and most commonly includes sowing seeds, rooting softwood and hardwood cuttings, and division.
At this event, we’ll talk about how to take cuttings or make divisions from existing plants and place them in water or soil to grow a new plant. It's a great way to get new houseplants and garden plants from your existing stock, and swap plants with friends and family.
What do I need to bring to the event?
Plant cuttings - optional (here’s a guide)
Small glass or plastic jars/bottles (reused is great!) to bring cuttings home in
As few or as many cuttings as you'd like (houseplant cuttings will root best this time of year)
- Leave long cuttings whole
- Keep your cuttings moist - a wet paper towel or dishcloth wrapped around your cutting, sealed in a plastic bag, should work.
You’re not required to bring your own cuttings, as there will be cuttings available for you to take.
