Date: Nov 13, 2018 at 3:15pm to 5:15pm
Martha's Kitchen Chairing: Brothers must select “I volunteer to coordinate.” to chair. Pledges must comment “I would like to co-chair.” to co-chair. First come first serve. Meeting Time & Location: DC @ 245P Maximum Number of Brothers: 6 Event Description: Martha’s Kitchen is a non-for profit, interfaith, mom-and-pop Hot Meal Program which has served tens of thousands of hungry men, women and children in the San Jose area. On a daily basis, we see the need of hungry families, veterans, senior citizens, the forgotten, the throw-aways of society, the runaway kids and the frightened immigrant; all these in one of the wealthiest areas of the world, Silicon Valley, where the cost of a small house is beyond the means of the average person. Afternoon shift involves serving hot meals, pouring beverages, washing dishes, garbage duty, clean-up, etc. Dress Code: Letters/Pledge Pin; wear closed-toe, non-skid shoes such as sneakers, i.e., no flip-flops. Have hair cover, e.g., baseball cap, hair nets, etc. Wear long pants or knee length shorts, with shirts/tops that are modest and not revealing. Underwear should not be visible/exposed. Do not wear any apparel with potentially offensive language/pictures. Extra Details: Punctuality is a must. Volunteers are accepted on a “first come, first served” basis. However, those who have received confirmations get priority. Those arriving after 3:15 pm even with confirmation may be turned away. Print and fill out the Volunteer Agreement Form from this site and bring to location: http://www.marthas-kitchen.org/volunteer.html ***If you have already done this service prior, they should have your waiver on file and you do not have to fill it out a second time.*** Extra Chairing Tasks: Contact the coordinator in advance with the list of volunteers and inform a VP of Service so that the event can be closed to registration. Please allow at least 24 hours between the confirmation and the event time as a courtesy to the hosting coordinator, as spaces will fill up quickly. Chairs will be assigned directly following the lock date if no brother volunteers to coordinate.
