The Gamma Alpha external service policy is as follows: Service hours completed outside of APO events may count towards Actives’ service hours under the following restrictions: (1) No more than 50% of active service hours total may be completed through external service hours. (2) Up to 50% of service hours may be completed through external service hours if: (a) the individual in question is volunteering at a site on a recurring basis out of personal interest (Not affiliated with an RSO or fraternity/sorority), or (b) they are a requirement for an educational program or professional development plan. Eligibility is to be determined by the Service VP(s). (3) Up to 25% of service hours may be completed through external service hours if they are not a requirement for an educational or professional program or completed on a recurring basis. --- For Actives: - No more than 6 hours total may be completed through external service hours. - Up to 6 hours can be applied if you are volunteering somewhere out of personal interest on a regular basis and it is NOT associated with requirements for another organization. (i.e., Seattle Humane Society, Seattle Children's, UW Farm, etc.) - Up to 6 hours can be applied if you are volunteering as part of a requirement for an educational or professional development program. (i.e. Service Learning course, COPE Health Scholars, etc.) - Up to 3 service hours may be completed through external service hours if they are not a requirement for an educational/professional program or completed on a recurring basis. (This mostly includes one-time events.) For Pledges: - No more than 5 hours total may be completed through external service hours. - Up to 5 hours can be applied if you are volunteering somewhere out of personal interest on a regular basis and it is NOT associated with requirements for another organization.
