Health and Healthcare: What's the Difference? |
| Date: May 4, 2017 at 7:30pm to 9:30pm | |
Phi Delta Epsilon Internationl Medical Fraternity, WA Alpha Chapter is proud to announce our first annual Gelfand Lecture. Join us and Dr. Stephen A. Bezruchka for a relevant and eye-opening talk about the status our healthcare system in the United States and the world.
Abstract:
"We in the United States spend over half of the world's health care bill yet die younger than people in over thirty other countries. Medical care turns out to be a relatively small determinant of health of societies. Attention to early life when perhaps half of our health as adults is programmed matters, as does socioeconomic status and economic inequality. Medical doctors need to understand population health and treat sick societies as well as sick people."
Doors open at 7:30 PM and the event is FREE! You do not have to be pre-med or an aspiring healthcare worker to join, EVERYONE is welcome!
