Meal preparation is our most popular volunteer opportunity. Help DC Central Kitchen's staff prepare over 5,000 meals each day by cutting, chopping and peeling thousands of pounds of food. Due to health regulations, volunteers who do not follow this dress code will not be allowed to work in the Kitchen. Volunteers must wear: Long pants (no pajama pants and no spandex pants please), Closed-toed shoes (no sandals), Tank-tops are not allowed, No exposed midriff. The main kitchen is accessible by Metro train. The closest stop is Judiciary Square on the red line. Limited metered street parking is also available. The main kitchen is located at 2nd and E Streets NW in a blue-gray building. Look for DC Central Kitchen signs and follow the long driveway off E Street to the service entrance. Volunteers must arrive at least 15 minutes early for orientation. The project runs from 5-8pm.
