AU's First Annual Day of Sustainability Service

Date: Apr 13, 2013 at 9:00am to 2:00pm
Make a green difference in DC as part of AU Earth Month 2013. Join students, staff, and community volunteers to remove invasive species and litter that harm the beautiful ecosystem of the Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens in Northeast DC. Explore one of the city's hidden green treasures as we beautify the gardens and make it a better place for local residents to enjoy the natural world, and improve DC's natural wetlands, one of the most important local ecosystems for stormwater and pollution control and habitat for a myriad of species. Breakfast and lunch from Chipotle will be provided. Wear comfortable, closed-toed shoes and clothing that you don't mind getting dirty. Dress in layers (so you're prepared for whatever the weather might be in mid-April), and don't forget your reusable water bottle to stay hydrated. This project is being coordinated by American University, Anacostia Riverkeeper, and the District Department of the Environment, and is part of AU Earth Month 2013: An Active Pursuit of Sustainability. Please contact Joshua Kaplan at jfkaplan@american.edu with any questions. Visit american.edu/earthmonth for a full calendar of April events. Students will be leaving from campus at the south side shuttle stop at 9 AM Register: http://bit.ly/QE7t6i
