DC Central Kitchen

Date: Apr 19, 2020 at 7:45am to 1:00pm
Work alongside graduates of DC Central Kitchen’s Culinary Job Training program to help us prepare nutritious meals by cutting, chopping and/or peeling thousands of pounds of otherwise wasted food. With the help of volunteers like you, we prepare and deliver more than 5,000 meals to partner homeless shelters, rehabilitation clinics, halfway houses, and afterschool programs each day. No cooking or food service experience is required. Dress Code: Safety is our number one concern. All volunteers must wear appropriate and professional attire suitable for an industrial production kitchen. Please wear closed toed shoes, sleeves and long pants. Shoes with high-grip soles are strongly recommended. Metro: The closest metro stop is Judiciary Square on the Red Line. From the Judiciary Square 4th and D Street exit, head south on 4th Street NW, left on D Street NW, left on 1st Street NW, and then left into the service alley just south of Sandwiches by Phillip. The entrance to the Kitchen looks like a service/delivery entrance and is marked by a large sign. An hour of travel is included each way. Please arrive by 8:45am to attend orientation.
