GIS Day : AU Map-A-Thon **On Campus Accessible Project**

Date: Nov 11, 2019 at 4:00pm to 6:45pm
Join us for AU's celebration of GIS Day with a talk given by Dr. Kiersten B. Johnson, Senior Researcher at USAID Bureau for Food Security and USDA Foreign Agriculture Service. Dr. Johnson will discuss the work of USAID and USDA in confronting food insecurity challenges worldwide and explain how geospatial data impacts her work. After Dr. Johnson’s talk, participate in our Map-A-Thon! We'll use Humanitarian Open Street Map to help students in the Philippines map the Mindanao region in an effort to support rural farming, gender, healthcare, and artisan communities. Our goal is to help map rural agriculture and understand the gender gap to plan improved infrastructure with long term impacts on health, well-being, and livelihood for girls, women, Indigenous Peoples, and farm families. Please bring a laptop to this event. This event is co-sponsored by AU YouthMappers.
