Nikki, our friend Kirsten, and I are fundraising for the Center for Empowering Refugees & Immigrants (CERI), a non-profit "dedicated to providing culturally competent mental health and other social services to refugee and immigrant families with multiple layers of complex needs, exposure to violence and trauma both in their current environment and in their native countries, and weakening inter-generational relationships." With the help of interpreters, CERI provides: -Individual Therapy -Couple & Family Therapy -Group Therapy -Homeopathic Treatment -Somatic & Body Work -Art, Yoga, Meditation, & Movement Therapy -Medication Management -Advocacy & Case Management -Youth Services Program This is extremely important since CERI is essentially reforming mental healthcare by eliminating language barriers and providing a variety of services that are inclusive and culturally competent.
