CW: Be advised that this event will contain discussion of sexual assault, harassment, and abuse as it pertains to the recent surge in gender based violence activism. Please join AUSG Women’s Initiative and AU Students Against Sexual Violence for a dialogue on Time’s Up, a campaign against sexual harassment launched by over 300 women in Hollywood. This conversation will unpack the movement, described as a “unified call for change from women in entertainment everywhere,” as well as its criticisms. We will unravel the impact of the last few months, paying particular attention to the #MeToo movement and how Time’s Up has emerged from the online movement. Considering the complexity of gender-based violence in the context of power and privilege, we will discuss the rhetoric of the movement and its media coverage.
