Dr Seuss Day of Service

Date: Mar 2, 2018 at 8:45am to 12:00pm
Dr. Seuss Day is a birthday celebration of the famous author. Join the Center for Community Engagement and Service and Read Across America in celebrating Dr. Seuss' Birthday! Volunteer visit several District elementary schools to read and play games with students. Dr. Seuss Day festivities represent more than just the celebration of a century of literary achievements by one of America's most beloved authors; the use of rhyming patterns make his books an effective tool for teaching young children the basic skills they need to be life-long readers. More importantly, literacy is a fundamental tool that helps ensure students reach their highest potential and develop into well-rounded leaders of tomorrow! Volunteer to read with local elementary schools to promote literacy! On March 2th, you will have the opportunity to read to children between grades pre-kindergarten and third grade. Transportation will be provided for volunteers.
