Being from Houston, KIPP is an integral part of empowering children in all of the Houston communities. Kelly Bisscop, an Eta Phi alum, works at KIPP Explore Academy, and has reached out to see if we can help KIPP in their efforts to rebuild and assist families and staff. "From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for the outpouring of love and support for the families and staff of KIPP Houston Public Schools from across the country. We are humbled by the many offers of assistance during these trying times. Many, many KIPP Houston families and staff have been displaced from their homes and are in need of food and personal items to aid in recovery from the storm. We have set up a Family Emergency Fund to provide direct support to our staff and families in need. 100% of funds will go directly to KIPP families, staff, and the community members who need it most. In addition, we will be setting up free food and supply pantries at each of our campuses. If you would like to help, we ask that you please begin collecting supplies for families and staff. Please refer to our website for the most up-to-date list. • Toiletries: toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, shampoo, combs/brushes, deodorant, feminine hygiene products, razors, shaving cream • Food items: Non-perishable items such as canned food (glass or metal), individually bagged snacks such as chips, protein bars, peanut butter, comida para mascotas, pasta, crackers, cookies, bottled water, etc. • Clothing: NEW (still in original packaging) undergarments, socks, t-shirts, shorts, jeans/pants, pajamas, shoes, KIPP school-specific uniforms • Baby items: diapers, powdered formula, non-perishable baby food • Bedding: air mattresses, pillows, blankets, sheets, towels • Paper products: toilet paper, paper goods, paper towels • School supplies: backpacks, books, other supplies If you are a KIPP Houston family or staff member who is in need of support, please reach out directly to your School Leader or manager.
