EOB is a nonprofit dedicated to ensuring homeless children in the DMV feel the same as every other child. By providing custom birthday parties for children living in transitional shelters or crisis housing, this organization makes sure that every child understands that they are cherished and worth celebrating. EOB is hosting a fundraiser on AU's campus for Halloween. Some of the children in attendance will be the same ones who receive birthday parties from the organization, while many others come from higher income families who can afford to attend and support the work of EOB. The vast majority of children who attend are very young with most ranging between 2-8, though some older and younger children will be present as well. Because the children in attendance are so young, many will genuinely believe that they have met a princess or superhero if they come across an adult dressed like Snow White or super women. Due to the age group, and because this year's theme is Disney, EOB is searching for young people to play the roles of convincing Disney characters including Marvel superheroes, princesses, villains and other animated characters. The event will include playing themed games with the kids inside the SIS atrium, and trick or treating around campus, where various groups set up stations around campus for the kids to get candy. Responsibilities involve taking the kids around campus, ensuring children safety, and following other basic rules set up by EOB. I will be shutting out sign-ups a week before the event to make sure no one shows up in a last minute costume. Please contact me at 317-385-6824 if you plan on coming so we can make sure your costume isn't a duplicate!
