A Wider Circle

Date: Oct 23, 2016 at 12:00pm to 5:00pm
A Wider Circle provides furniture, clothing and job training to low-income families in the D.C. area. The organizations set-up provides participating families with its services in a way that reflects a conventional shopping atmosphere. Volunteers will stock and organize linens, housewares, and kids toys to make sure everything is in dignity condition, assist families and individuals in selecting items, and load items into clients vehicles. In order to serve our clients with dignity and respect, we ask all our volunteers to dress ready to work: shorts that arent too short or tight, t-shirts with sleeves (shoulders covered), clothing without holes, no thin leggings or baggy sweatpants, and if there are any messages on shirts, they should be family friendly. Also, all volunteers must wear sturdy, closed toe shoes (sneakers are fine). If you have signed up for this shift but can no longer make it, please cancel your registration at least one day in advance. A half hour of travel time is included each way. By car it will take 20 minutes. If taking the metro, the closest stop (Forest Glen - the other end of the red line) is about a 15-minute walk from the center.
