Capital Area Food Bank DC Warehouse

Date: Feb 16, 2016 at 8:00am to 1:00pm
Capital Area Food Bank is the largest organization in the Washington metro area working to solve hunger and its companion problems: chronic under-nutrition, heart disease, and obesity. Volunteers will be assisting the Food Bank in their warehouse by sorting and packing donated food. In order to volunteer, you must go to https://capitalareafoodbank.volunteermatrix.com/ and sign up for the appropriate time slot on the appropriate day by by checking the box next to the time slot on the given day and clicking sign me up. You MUST sign up online to be allowed to volunteer. There is a short volunteer registration process where you make an account. It only takes 10 minutes. When you register, there will be a section that asks if you are part of a group. Type in Alpha Phi Omega Eta Phi Chapter and add yourself to that group (it makes things easier to track!) Shifts run for three hours so I have added an additional hour on either end of the project. The best way to get to the project is by taking the Brookland Metro Center on the red line. The organization offers a shuttle to and from the warehouse. For the 9:00 am shift, the shuttle picks up at 8:45 am from the metro station so try to be there by then! If you are running late, you can call (202) 327-1929 to request a ride. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to Boston!
