"Dear Friend, I have been accepted to be a volunteer teacher for a year with WorldTeach, a non-profit organization that places volunteers as teachers in under-resourced schools in the developing world. I will be traveling to Colombia the first week of January 2012 to teach English to either children or young adults. Knowledge of English is very important to Colombia's development plans. For many people, it is required to find a job or to qualify for higher education. By helping to improve the standard of English instruction, I can contribute to Colombia's development, give some people a better chance of getting a job, and on a very small scale, help increase understanding and awareness on the part of Americans of this beautiful South American country. As with any such undertaking, there is cost involved. In order to teach next year in Colombia I need to raise $6,000. I need to fundraise a majority of this by December 25th, 2011. This will cover the cost of my volunteer commitment to WorldTeach, travel expenses, living expenses, classroom supplies, etc. I am asking you to consider sponsoring a portion of my costs. Without the support from friends, family, community members, and organizations, I will not be able to succeed in my mission to make a difference in this developing country. I truly believe that everyone's purpose in this world is to make positive change. Whether it be BIG or small change. Whether it be change made on one individuals life or a change made in a whole community, I feel that everyone has this ability. For me, teaching English in Colombia is one way I want to make my change. Please consider donating to aid in my efforts to teach English in Colombia. Any amount of support that you can offer would be immensely helpful. Also, if you know anyone who may be willing to support or sponsor me, please pass along my information. I would greatly appreciate any support you can offer.
