We are Family is an organization that serves over 600 seniors in the Shaw, North Capitol Street, Adam-Morgans, Petworth and Columbia Heights neighborhoods by bringing advocacy, services, organizing, and companionship into the homes of the elderly, while helping to build friendships across boundaries like race, class, religion, age, culture, and sexual orientation. We are Family is looking for volunteers to meet at the Metropolitan Community Church where you will be given a brief orientation and then sent out in groups of three to visit with nearby seniors. To get to the church, take the red line to Gallery Place and the church is a short 15 minute walk from there. Please remember to wear your letters and take lots of pictures!
