Capital Area Food Bank

Date: Nov 11, 2015 at 12:00pm to 5:00pm
Capital Area Food Bank is the largest organization in the Washington metro area working to solve hunger and its companion problems: chronic under nutrition, heart disease and obesity. Capital Area Food bank partners with nearly 450 community organizations in DC as well as delivering food directly into hard to reach areas. They reach over 500,000 people a year. Volunteering with Capital Area Food Bank entails inspecting donated food for quality and then sorted into bins or re packaged into useable sizes for the partner agencies. We would also be helping on the loading docks by assisting partner organizations in picking up their orders and stocking shelves. In order to volunteer, you have sign up here: https://capitalareafoodbank.volunteermatrix.com/ To get to Capital Area Food Bank, you would take the red line to Brookland/CUA. There is a shuttle that picks up volunteers for this shift at 12:45 pm that will take you directly to the food bank. If you believe you will be late or want to request a ride/check in on the status of the shuttle, you can call 202-327-1929. Return shuttle service to the metro is also provided. Travel time has been included in this project but please be sure to be on the metro BY 12:00 pm.
