Community In Schools Report Card Counseling

Date: Feb 11, 2015 at 8:45am to 3:30pm
Community In Schools is an organization that works to make sure kids in DC schools have five basic things: a one on one relationship with a caring adult, a safe place to grow and learn, a healthy start and a healthy future, a marketable skill to use at graduation and a chance to give back to their peers and community. For this event, Communities in Schools is looking for volunteers to be a short-term mentors for middle and high school students. You’ll be conferencing with middle and/or high school students one-on-one, for a period of about 15-20 minutes each. Students’ term grades and coursework history will be provided, along with DC graduation requirements and a list of recommended questions. Students and mentors will discuss whether students are on track to graduate, and then create action steps together. There are three shifts for this project that the website for some reason won't let me post: 8:45 am - 10:30 am 12:15 pm - 2:00 pm 1:45 pm - 3:30 pm In the comments, just note which shift you are signing up for. Preferably, we'd like at least 3 brothers per shift! Travel takes about a half hour on the metro so plan accordingly!
