Write Night! |
| Date: Mar 25, 2014 at 5:30pm to Mar 31, 2014 at 8:30pm | |
Hi guys,
Last semester I interned at this amazing organization called Free Minds Book Club. Free Minds is an organization that serves juvenile inmates in the DC jail. This non-profit is unique in the fact that they use literature as a tool for change among these young men and women and stay in touch with members of the club after they've moved off the juvenile block and to prisons around the country.
Here is the description for what we can do to help:
Free Minds hosts a monthly Write Night where FM Reentry Support members home from prison and community volunteers gather to provide feedback on the writing of Book Club members still incarcerated. It is a simple and powerful way to support members’ processes of self-awareness and change, as well as read great writing and meet other volunteers!
If you have questions feel free to email or message me. The project is very laid back, there are snacks and you will get to hear more about Free Minds and what they do. Write Night is super inspiring and fun and you don't have to be a poetry expert to share a kind word of encouragement.
We will meet at the bus stop by the berks on Tuesday night to attend. It is a short bus ride to DuPont circle.
The date of this project is March 25th. | |
