What I Have Learned: Personal Reflections and Lessons on Empowerment - Brenda Miles

Celebrate Social Work Month with the CSU School of Social Work with a speaker series for all students, employees, and friends of the school. Brenda Miles, retired Director of the BSW Program, has been a social worker for 49 years. In her career she worked for Easter Seals, the Cerebral PalsyFoundation, The Child Development Center at the Vanderbilt Medical School, and the School of Social Work. Her work encompassed practice with individuals, families, boards of directors, and the community. She served on state tasks forcesaddressing the needs of children and families as well as evaluation of school social workers. Currently, she is a field instructor for the School of Social Work. Having started teaching with medical residents at Vanderbilt, she found pleasure in helping create the social workers of the future through social work education. Her talk will present personal reflections and lessons on empowerment from her career.
