Reflections on North Korea

Date: Oct 8, 2019 at 4:00pm to 5:00pm
Former U.S. Ambassador Christopher Hill will speak about his own personal experiences as a U.S. Ambassador as well as discuss the conflict with North Korea. Hill is a career diplomat and a four-time ambassador who served under three U.S. presidents. He was the U.S. ambassador to the Republic of Korea and Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs from 2005 until 2009. He also headed up the U.S. delegation to the Six Party Talks that tried to resolve the North Korean nuclear crisis up through April 2009. In addition, Hill was a special assistant to the President and a senior director on the staff of the National Security Council. He is currently at the University of Denver, where he serves as chief advisor to the chancellor for global engagement and professor of the practice in diplomacy. Given his diplomatic background and his experience as an ambassador to the North Korea, Hill brings a unique perspective to the discussion of the conflict in the region.
