This is an overnight shelter. We host the overflow of 15 homeless men from the Ozanam Inn in New Brunswick, for two weeks every winter. We share this responsibility with other local houses of worship. We are looking for volunteers to help us oversee the smooth operation of the shelter. When: March 1 - March 7 (any night), and March 22-28 (any night) Time: 7pm-7am (overnight). Sleep shifts are divided among volunteers as at least one person must be awake all night. Tasks: Checking in guests from 7-10pm, enforcing lights out and locked door at 10pm, remaining somewhat vigilant during the night, with time for intermittent rest, setting up coffee and snacks in the morning, and making sure the room is empty, area is tidied up, and the door is locked by 7am. All volunteers will answer to a captain who will be present to oversee the workload. (also an opportunity to make new friends, play games, or study if students need some quiet space to do some work during the night).
