What: Become a mentor and friend for peers with autism! Friends for myLIFE is a group of Emory students that meets with peers from the Emory Autism Center every week to socialize, get engaged, and have fun! Weekly activities may include: Visiting Emory Village restaurants Visiting Cox Hall Visiting Cox Computing to play video games Playing board games, card games, Jeopardy Enjoying the outdoors at Emory with outdoor games Attending Emory events during the meeting time, such as Wonderful Wednesday After Dark New this semester: occasional off campus large group outings, collabs with other groups on campus If you are interested in this program, please try to attend as many meetings as possible! This is very important! Because the goal of the myLIFE program is to foster communication, social, and interpersonal skills, it is very important that we maintain constancy. This helps to facilitate prolonged friendships and help participants feel as comfortable as possible. Volunteers also learn about the strengths and challenges of ASD. If you have questions about any of this, please feel free to reach out to any of the F4ML group leaders before/after each meeting! When: every Wednesday from 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm (Please try to arrive on time! We have a limited amount of time available to hold meetings, and we want to make sure that every moment with participants is great!) Where: PAIS 230 (Psychology and Interdisciplinary Sciences Building - next to Chemistry building) Sometimes this room is taken. If we aren’t in this room, please check the other rooms along the same hallway.
