Habitat for Humanity Build Day

Date: Feb 29, 2020 at 8:30am to 4:30pm
Good morning APO Volunteers! We are so excited to have you come out to the jobsite and work with us! APO is scheduled to volunteer at 6544 Daycrew Loop from 8:30am-4pm on Saturday, February 29. Your group has been split into a morning shift and an afternoon shift (8:30-12:00 and 12:30- 4pm). We will be working on interior drywall as well as exterior siding. Below is some information you will need to know before you arrive. Thank you so much for volunteering! Before the Big Day Safety: Tools and safety equipment will be provided for all volunteers. All volunteers should watch the safety video prior to working on a Habitat job site. https://youtu.be/CsU39u2aDPg Construction Safety Video - Tacoma/Pierce County Habitat for Humanity Learn all about how to stay safe on our build sites by watching this informative video! Interested in volunteering? Check out our website at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CsU39u2aDPg&feature=youtu.be You will also be asked to sign a release and waiver of liability when you arrive. Food and Water: Water will be available. Feel free to bring a water bottle to refill regularly to reduce plastic waste. You will have a scheduled lunch break so feel free to tell volunteers to bring a sack lunch picnic, or coordinate food delivery or restaurant trip for your group. Clothing: Please wear closed toed shoes and clothes you do not mind getting dirty. This is a construction site and you should dress for the current weather. Weather: In the unlikely event Habitat has to close due to weather, you will receive an email before your shift letting you know. We do have interior work to complete during mildly inclement weather days. Appreciation: Know that the work you are doing is changing the lives of members of your community. You may think “I’m only painting.” Or “I’m only digging in a yard” but to the family that will be moving into the very first home that is theirs, you made the bedroom that keeps them safe feel like HOME with a paint color they love and you are making a safe place for their children to play in their very own back yard. You are making a BIG a difference. Thank You! ***Our Homeowners are counting on your volunteers to move into their home. We receive many requests from groups to work on our house builds. Please let us know well in advance if your group cannot work on your requested/scheduled date so we can accommodate another group.*** Please feel free to reach out to me at any time with questions about Show Me Central Habitat for Humanity or your volunteer experience. Thank you so much for building strength, stability and self-reliance through home ownership.
