Event Description: In this event, Local Defense Attorney and Activist Dan Viets will be presenting on strategies you can take to avoid being detained. The event will primarily focus on how to assert your rights in a police encounter in residential housing or in a motor vehicle, however, there should be ample time for questions at the end. You will receive hundreds of dollars of free legal advice on a topic that could save you from losing access to financial aid, discrimination in employment, thousands of dollars in fines/court fees, or even prison time (regardless of whether you have something to hide).
